CONFERENCES

PRESENTATION

Since the establishment of the Society for Renaissance and Baroque Hispanic Poetry, the biennial conference has been the key event in our calendar. First held in 1993, it usually takes place in the Autumn and in different locations, hosted by members of the Society. There are normally two or three keynote lectures.

The conference offers an exciting range of academic presentations, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities in a warm and welcoming environment. The members celebrate an assembly at each biennial conference. Social events in the past have included concerts and recitals, visits to galleries, monuments, archives, and exhibitions, and a banquet.

Submissions are welcome from faculty, independent scholars, post-doctoral faculty and graduate students. Membership in the SRBHP is required for participation. The fostering of next-generation thinkers is at the heart of our mission, and therefore since the 14th biennial conference (2019) we award the SRBHP Founders’ Prize for Best Graduate Student Paper.

In addition to our biennial conference, the SRBHP organizes sessions at the annual meeting of the Renaissance Society of America (since 2014) and at the triennial conference of the Asociación Internacional Siglo de Oro (since 2017).
